Truth and Consequences

Have you ever met someone who thought it wasn't fair when they had to deal with the aftermath of THEIR OWN actions? I have, and to be honest, I don't like to hear them to complain.  Not that I haven't complained about the consequences of my own actions, but because they are sincerely upset that dumb things happen when they do dumb things.  I usually try to find the humor in my consequences, Kind of like "well, Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" or "fool around and find out".  This was the reality of my life when growing up. Right now, as a society, we want consequence-less freedom.  Freedom itself has consequences and if you are not willing to deal with them, maybe you shouldn't engage in the actions that cause them.  In other words: If you don't want stupid prizes, don't play stupid games. The truth is, one way or another, we all pay for what we do.  Worse, the sins of the fathers are often visited on the sons.  Our children often pay fo...

Embracing the Suck

I'm in the process of setting up the infrastructure of my life coaching business, working a full time day-job as an in-home caregiver (also known as direct support professional).  I prefer the term "Groom of the Stool" You can look that one up.  But, I'm also having to renew my driver's license. Add on top of that, I have laundry, dishes housework, cats, and a million other little things that need to be done in a day. When I look at all the things that are needful in my life, it can get overwhelming.   I'm not sure where I first heard the phrase "embrace the suck", but it has turned out to be pretty elemental in my journey.  This doesn't mean that I get to whine and moan about my awful life.  I do, whine and moan about my life, human nature does apply to me, but that I can and should embrace the experience, find the humor and the lesson, and somehow, be grateful that these are the kinds of problems I have.  I'm reasonably healthy, while I...

What in the World?

Seems like every time I sign into social media or the news, that is the question that comes to mind. Are things really getting worse in the world, or am I just more aware?  Tough questions to ask.  It may be that with the ability to access all forms of information, and with that ability sitting in our pockets, we are simply being inundated with that information in real time in a way that we never have been before. Or, maybe things really are getting worse.  I believe in the 90:10 rule.  90 % of the problems in the world are caused by 10% of the people.   On a small scale, it's those two or three kids in the elementary school classroom that seem to cause all the trouble. You start increasing those numbers to school, city, and nation. and the numbers of problem causers increases proportionately. So, the population of the US is (very) approximately 300,000,000. knock one of the zeroes off and you have a trouble causing population of roughly 30,000,000....

Beginning again

Hello, folks, Starting yet another blog.  Hopefully this one will be different. As a life coach, just starting out, I thought it might be a good idea to chronicle my journey. Please feel free you address any comment or questions you have in the comment section. I've lived in Tennessee since 2017.  Before that, I worked in a wide variety of jobs and have had several lifetimes worth of friends and experiences.   I have also been dealing with depression and anxiety for much of my adult life. All this I put it out before you as I continue to heal and hope to bring you along for the ride.  Maybe even help you on your way to mental and emotional well being. Peace, Dudes
