What in the World?

Seems like every time I sign into social media or the news, that is the question that comes to mind.

Are things really getting worse in the world, or am I just more aware?  Tough questions to ask.  It may be that with the ability to access all forms of information, and with that ability sitting in our pockets, we are simply being inundated with that information in real time in a way that we never have been before. Or, maybe things really are getting worse.

I believe in the 90:10 rule.  90 % of the problems in the world are caused by 10% of the people.

On a small scale, it's those two or three kids in the elementary school classroom that seem to cause all the trouble. You start increasing those numbers to school, city, and nation. and the numbers of problem causers increases proportionately. So, the population of the US is (very) approximately 300,000,000. knock one of the zeroes off and you have a trouble causing population of roughly 30,000,000.  Do you see where I'm going with this?

To be fair, some of these folks are truly evil, but even then, I believe that most are simply uninformed, or simply don't know better. Some are even believing that they are solving problems, or at least calling them out.

We live in a society that seems to have forgotten what responsibility and respect are.

I believe we have a responsibility to be kind, honest, generous and respectful.  And when it comes to respect, that is earned, not demanded. It is given not, taken.

Now, in the interest of fairness:  I am Conservative.  I am Christian.  These things inform my perspective and philosophy.  I do not apologize for them.  I do not force anyone to believe what I believe. I refuse to be hateful to those w\ho disagree with me.  And all I ask in return is that if you do disagree with me, that you do so politely and respectfully.

I plan on exploring many of the issues rocking our nation and our world.  But not today.  Today is about letting you know generally where I stand and to let you decide if you want to be a part of the conversation.  Rest assured, I am as convinced or my rightness as you are.  But, I am willing to be wrong.  I will not compromise on my Faith or on Biology, but on most other issues I am willing to be wrong.

IF you are willing to be wrong, and are willing to change your mind, then you are capable of learning and I hope you will learn with me, as students of this life.

Peace, Dudes
