Truth and Consequences
Have you ever met someone who thought it wasn't fair when they had to deal with the aftermath of THEIR OWN actions?
I have, and to be honest, I don't like to hear them to complain. Not that I haven't complained about the consequences of my own actions, but because they are sincerely upset that dumb things happen when they do dumb things. I usually try to find the humor in my consequences, Kind of like "well, Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" or "fool around and find out". This was the reality of my life when growing up. Right now, as a society, we want consequence-less freedom. Freedom itself has consequences and if you are not willing to deal with them, maybe you shouldn't engage in the actions that cause them. In other words: If you don't want stupid prizes, don't play stupid games.
The truth is, one way or another, we all pay for what we do. Worse, the sins of the fathers are often visited on the sons. Our children often pay for our misguided behavior. When people pursue their own pleasure, it often comes at the detriment of others.
If you want to know what is wrong with the world, Look at your own behavior. Do you act in a way that causes pain or damage to others? To my enormous shame, I do sometimes. I am painfully aware of my own selfishness, And I do not want to be that person.
This doesn't mean I can't do what I want, but id does mean that if I do not want the consequences of my actions to play out, maybe I'd better think long and hard about what I'm doing.
This is decades of fooling around and finding out, Long years of play stupid games. I have shelves full of stupid prizes. I have stopped asking people to hold my beer.
And if someone wants to know what I think, I have to tell them, gently, in Truth and in love.
Peace, Dudes
